San Francisco Skate Club has been supporting youth in
San Francisco since 2007.

Founders Thuy Nguyen and Shawn Connolly combined their talents within skateboarding and education to create San Francisco Skate Club in 2007. First operating out of Thrive House and on site at schools, the program grew into its own space in 2013. Since then, the impact has continued to compound with the creation of the EduSkate After School Program, Summer Skate Camp, Saturday Sessions, and more.

EduSkate operates out of the SF Skate Club hub. We are proud to partner with aligned organizations such as DCYF, OTTP, FACES SF, Haight Street Art Center, and McKinley School to offer on-site and off-site programming.

EduSkate is a Project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE), a

registered public charity, which provides non-profit status. Your donation is fully tax-deductible.

Please make checks payable to “SEE" with the EduSkate written in the memo section. If you are donating by credit card, please note that Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs, or a variation of SEE, will show up on your credit card statement

More than skateboarding.

We serve youth and engage with their families in a multitude of ways.

Academic Support

We offer tutoring, homework help, and enrichment opportunities to promote academic excellence and curiosity among our EduSkate youth.

Technical Resources

We have laptops, desktop computers, iPads, and other technical resources available for homework and personal projects.

Skateboarding Instruction

At EduSkate, we believe skateboarding fosters patience, determination, and individuality. We provide skateboarding instruction at local skateparks, safe skate spots, and our backyard ramp.

Community

Our motto here is "Skate with a Friend!"

EduSkate youth make long-lasting friendships with other young skaters and receive support from a community that empowers them.

Job Training + Resume Building

Youth gain practical job experience and leadership skills through working at the SF Skate Club shop or volunteering in our programming. We also provide career planning guidance and resume-building support for their professional futures.

Mentors

At EduSkate, our youth are surrounded by mentors in the skate community who embody our core values of respect, integrity, and kindness! The staff at EduSkate strive to be a safe and trusted support system that inspires and guides the youth.

Creative Enrichment

We provide art supplies and a creative space for youth to explore their passions. We also host projects and events that platform their achievements, take field trips to museums and local businesses, and collaborate with other organizations/members of our community to learn about different creative and entrepreneurial mediums.

Safe Space

We host a positive and lively space where all are welcomed and valued. We work to ensure every individual feels accepted, respected, and appreciated!

Social and Emotional Learning

We facilitate meaningful conversations that

promote effective communication, adaptability, and socio-emotional intelligence.

Food and Beverages

We always have healthy food and drink options available for the EduSkate youth to enjoy during programming. We also have activities like "Iron Chef" that give them hands-on cooking experience and nutrition education.

Leadership Opportunities

We empower youth to take on leadership roles in the program and in their community. We encourage EduSkate youth to identify and pursue their interests, set goals, and take risks in a safe environment.

Mental Health Resources

We partner with occupational therapists from OTTP to integrate mental health support and organize activities that promote the mental well-being of our EduSkate youth.
